In 2005, Chris Dadge, David Laing, and Scott Munro - then known collectively as the Bent Spoon Trio - started Bug Incision Records as a means to issue their own recordings. This activity soon spread to the trio's other projects and other players in the community, and a number of years later began to rope in musicians and groups from all over Canada and the United States, as well Britain, Sweden, France, and Japan. Nearly 100 recordings have been issued, and the albums have been favourably reviewed by The Wire, Musicworks, Cadence, Exclaim!, Vital Weekly, Touching Extremes, and more.

In 2006, Bug Incision expanded its local presence into concert presenting, and since then have organized many concerts around Calgary and surrounding areas. Past and present venues have included Emmedia, Theatre Junction GRAND, National Music Centre, Weeds Cafe, the Soda, and Broken City. Bug Incision is proud to have worked with some of the world's finest musicians, including Eric Chenaux, Joe Morris, Peter Evans, Jack Wright, Chris Riggs, John Oswald, Eugene Chadbourne, Bill Horist, Tim Olive, Scott Thomson, Susanna Hood, Brodie West, Satoko Fujii, Jean Martin, Ryan Driver, Chik White, Colin Fisher, Craig Pedersen, Elizabeth Millar, Joe Sorbara, Kyle Brenders, Tim Crofts, Nilan Perera, Allison Cameron, Karen Ng, Natsuki Tamura, Lina Allemano, David Payne, Tatsuya Nakatani, Nick Fraser, Tony Malaby, Jealousy Mountain Duo, Josh Zubot, Ellwood Epps, Shane Krause, Darren Williams, and many more.
